S.Kulathu Hariharaputra Sarma was born as first son of Brahmasri Vaikom Sankaranarayana Sastrigal. Along with school education, learnt Sanskrit from his paternal uncle, Vyakarana Siromani, Brahmasri V.K.Subrahmania Sastrigal. Preliminary vedic portions were studied during school days.
While in service in Chennai, regular study of Thaithireeya Sakha (covering Samhita, Brahmanam, Aranyakam and Mantra Prasnam) was undertaken from Brahmasri Lakshminarayana Sastrigal and Lalgudi Ganesa Sastrigal, including a few Ghanams.
Also some portions of Rigveda and a few Ghanams were learnt from Brahmasri Rama Rao, Brahmasri Suryanarayana Bhat and Brahmasri Swaminatha Ghanapatigal.
Conversant with the Bhashyam (Sayana’s Commentary) of Thaithireeya Yajurveda and Haradatta’s commentary on Mantraprasnam.
Has knowledge of Apastamba Poorvaprayoga and other rituals. Has been teaching vedic portions to students.
